Citadel Alchemist

What’s the difference between the Citadel Alchemist, Citadel Wave Bard and Citadel FX Wizard? Can I use the Alchemist firmware on Wave Bard or FX Wizard?

All Citadels (and Kastles 2) are built upon the same platform and they share the same internal hardware. They differ in the faceplate and manual. You can easily load Alchemist firmware into Wave Bard or FX Wizard and vice versa.

Do I need to upload the Alchemist firmware onto my Citadel before uploading Scales/Rhythms from the Alchemist Laboratory web app?

No, the UF2 files generated by the web app already include the latest Alchemist firmware. You can easily load it to your existing FX Wizard / Wave Bard.

Do I need to be online to use the web app?

Actually not! Even though it’s a web app, everything is processed locally in your browser and you can easily install the web app as a native-like application using Chrome or other Chrome-based browsers and use it without internet connection. See the full guide in the App Offline Mode section of the manual.

Can the Alchemists Audio In jacks record audio?

The Alchemist is a synthesizer, so it does not record external audio. The Audio In jacks can be used for chaining multiple devices together or, alternatively, for routing input audio through the effects. For more details, refer to the Advanced Settings section of the manual.

Can I buy the Alchemist or the other Citadel faceplates?

Sure thing! First of all, the Citadel Alchemist comes equipped with a reversible front panel with ALCHEMIST on one side and blank OPEN SOURCE version on the other side. It also comes with our custom designed tool to make the panel switching as seamless as possible. You can load and try different Citadel/Kastle 2 present and future firmwares and updates with a USB port (on the back).

If you'd like to turn the Alchemist into Wave Bard or FX Wizard (or vice-versa), you can grab the 2sided panels at B-shop.

Are the settings saved on power on/off?

Citadel Alchemist saves input and output volumes, tempo, advanced settings /see the manual for those/, currently selected Mode, Ratio (for mode separately), FX, Env Mod, Mode Mod, Scale, Root note and Fine tuning. All other parameters and settings are cleared when the device is powered off.

What is the USB-C for?

The USB-C is used for firmware updates/loading samples, and for sending/receiving USB MIDI.
