KASTLE DRUM

My Kastle Drum is not producing any sound. What do I need to do?

You need to patch an output to input to trigger the Kastle Drum to produce sound.

Can I process external sounds through Kastle Drum as an effect?

That is not possible. Kastle is a synthesizer and its inputs are designed only to accept modulation signals.

I have another synth with mini patch points, can I connect it directly to Kastle Drum?

We do not recommend doing this as it could damage your Kastle when the signal reaches out of the safe zone. The mini patch inputs do not have any protection to them. The only protection circuit is located in the I/O jack socket so we strongly recommend patching only through the onboard I/O jack.

Can I plug CV from my modular directly into the mini patch points?

The mini patch inputs do not have any protection to them. The only protection circuit is located in the I/O jack socket so we strongly recommend patching only through the onboard I/O jack. Modular signals work with a different range of voltage so it would be very easy to destroy your Kastle Drum when going directly.

Can I use headphones directly with Kastle Drum?

Yes, you can, but there is no volume control.

How can I control volume on Kastle Drum?

There is no dedicated volume control so you will need control the volume on your mixer, audio interface or amplifier that you plug your Kastle Drum into. If these devices have no volume controls or you want to use headphones, we recommend using a passive headphone volume attenutor that will let you reduce volume. It is cheap and widely available in electronics stores.

My Kastle Drum does not work with batteries.

First you should try a new set of batteries and be sure they are inserted correctly and with correct polarity. If you are 100 % sure about the polarity and you are sure the batteries are full and tested in other device you should contact us for investigation.

Is Kastle Drum compatible with PC/MAC/Linux?

Kastle Drum does not create any digital connection with your computer. The onboard USB is for power only so when you plug it to your computer, it will turn on and that's it.

How can I sync my Kastle Drum with my other gear?

You can plug gate, trigger or clock signal from your other gear into the Kastle Drum ́s I/O jack. Then if you plug it into CLK IN pin, it will sync the Kastle Drum clock for you.

In case you want the Kastle Drum to be setting the tempo, then you need to run the CLK output into the I/O socket, and then plug a jack into some of your external device ́s analog clock input.

When run on baterries, Kastle Drum sounds different than powered via USB. Is that normal?

Yes, that´s normal. As there is a difference in voltages (5V with USB vs. 4.5V with AA batteries - even 4.3V if you use reachargeable ones), Kastle Drum may sound different.
